![]() In all, 31 AG elections are scheduled for 2018. One of the first fights after the rule change will likely come in Virginia, where Attorney General Mark Herring, a Democrat, is seeking reelection this November. ![]() In 2000, Republicans held 12 of the 51 state AG positions, including the District of Columbia, but that number is about to hit 29, if a nomination made by New Hampshire’s Republican governor this month is confirmed. In larger states, an attorney general commands hundreds of lawyers and other resources. AGs took tobacco companies to court in the 1990s, and pursued mortgage lenders in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. ![]() politics, aimed at promoting cooperation across state lines on issues of common interest, such as consumer protection.Īttorneys general are the top public lawyer in each state, charged with defending state agencies from lawsuits as well as initiating litigation on their own. The so-called ‘incumbency rule’ observed by the state attorneys’ party fundraising arms reflected a rare bit of bipartisanship in the polarized environment of U.S. Additionally, a desire by some to roll back same-sex marriage and the potential for increased corporate contributions played a role in the decision, said the sources, who requested anonymity to discuss the deliberations. Republican attorneys general who supported the change reasoned that AGs should join other national political campaigns which target incumbents, two sources familiar with the closed door process said. State AGs in Washington and Hawaii successfully sued to block Trump’s executive orders restricting travel from some Muslim-majority countries, and California’s attorney general has pledged to defend the state’s environmental standards. The move comes as Democratic attorneys general in states across the country have assumed lead roles in opposing some of Republican President Donald Trump’s policies. The decision has not been previously reported. That hands-off stance ended this month when Republican AGs voted to abandon the agreement and spend money to help unseat Democrats in other states, according to the Republican Attorneys General Association. This whole thing has been extremely frustrating.(Reuters) - For years the national political organizations of both Democratic and Republican state attorneys general observed an agreement not to target the other party’s incumbent office-holders in elections. I was never much of a Samsung person before but after this I will not buy Samsung again. Then to pass it off to a third party who says they "might not" deliver something I spend nearly $2K on this week because they "haven't decided" when they will come to my town about 45 minutes away from the hub is asinine. Samsung using AGS is absolutely awful, this company consistently has horrible things written about them online, they have bad communication and they can't get their stories straight. Not really looking for much other than to rant about this. Now the story is that they might not deliver it this week because they haven't decided on a day to come to my town. Let it be on Tuesday, and called again today. ![]() I called them, and they said they would schedule a delivery time later this week since I am in the "extended range" and they only come to my town once a week. On Monday the 12th, I called again and they said that it had been at a third party service since Friday, since my town was "out of range" for them, and they gave me the number to this outsourced group. One person said they didn't know where it was and one person said it was at my local hub, so I wasn't sure who to believe. I decided to call them and got different answers from different people. On the 9th, I got another notification saying it was "in transit," but again, nothing other than that. On the 8th, I got an email saying it would be delayed and someone would reach out to me. On 9/2, AGS said "in transit" and I heard nothing until 9/6, where they said "in transit" again on their tracker. It shipped the next day and had an estimated delivery date of September 8. Ordered a 65" S95B on August 31st from the Labor Day sale, and got an additional discount thanks to the education program. I know there are a few other posts on this subreddit about this, but I figured I'd share what's been going on with my order.
